Your PSA Webmaster Jeremy Udarbe, here. I just wanted to take this space to thank everyone who made this school year amazing. The incoming freshmen, the general members, the members of other APAC organizations, the YMCA, advisors, my AKA family, and last, but definitely not least, this year’s exec board, core board, and the F’s. I’ve had a very memorable time serving on the core board, and I hope that everyone feels the same about their experiences. We have had our own ups and downs, but we did it and the organization is headed in a great direction. I feel safe handing over the reins to the next board from seeing their ideas during elections as well as their own personal passions. I expect big things from you all. Trust me this isn’t the end of my involvement within the org; I won’t be disappearing off the face of this campus. I’m simply going from web-wizard to grand mage of the internet. That’s how it works right? Anyways, I’ll always be there to help out. I wish the best for all of you next year, especially to those graduating from UIUC this school year. To the webwizard-elect, Jordan Arrieta, you’re about to set off onto a great adventure. It’s your time to shine. Peace.

On June 10, 2012 the Philippine Student Association will be hosting the annual charity fundraiser in Morton Grove, IL. The event will consist of a traditional Filipino meal, exciting new performances including cultural dances and singers, guest speakers, Filipino games, raffle prizes, and more!

This year, PSA’s FilAmthropy has partnered with Gawad Kalinga, a non-profit organization that reaches out to troubled communities and helps them become self-sustainable for a better future. Empowered by people and faith, we believe that Gawad Kalinga’s culture of caring and sharing is the right mindset for providing health, education, and community building for those in need.

FilAmthropy is committed to reminding our PSA members about who we are, where we came from, and to never forget about those who are less fortunate than us. We would like to ask you, your friends, and family to join us on JUNE 10, 2012 to think bigger than just our PSA family but to also become a part of something much larger – the Filipino-American community in the Chicagoland area.

Cost: $10 per person in advance and $15 at the door

The first round of elections went by beautifully. All of the interns have grown in the process and it culminated to our new board for 2012-2013.

Becky and Desi want to close off their year as PSA’s Awareness Co-Chairs with another Conversation Cafe shindig! This isn’t just a sweet ending for them, but a celebration hangout with the fabulous, newly-elect, Awareness Co-Chairs of 2012-2013: Katreena Casallo and Imee Ignacio.

Augusto Espiritu (a Filipino professor on campus who is part of the History and Asian-American Studies department on campus) will be hosting the last lecture series of the year associated with the Conversation Cafe.

If you’re ready to have some FREE food, EXPAND your mind, and/or CHILL with the Awareness ladies, then, head on down to Illini Union’s Circle Drive @ 11:45 am to meet us, and then we’ll go to the Diversity Ed./Women’s Resource Center together.
