The existence of the Filipino Americans Coming Together (FACT) Conference over the past 19 years has been an initiative completely prompted and led by the students. This conference has served as a space to enrich our delegates’ as well as our facilitators’ knowledge of the Filipino-American culture, history, experience, interests, community and beyond.
FACT is a forum for delegates to share their opinions as well as gain new insight. We have prided ourselves in being one of the few conferences absolutely free of charge due to the support provided by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Experiencing FACT is open to all those interested in participating.
Each year we research, select, and contact countless facilitators with varying backgrounds, disciplines, and facilitating styles in order to deliver a dynamic conference with workshops tailored to the needs and climate of our current community. Our conference has grown and attracted over 1000+ individuals each year from throughout the nation that we find it only fitting to gear our workshops and conference to our delegates’ needs first.
We have found that truly building community across all identities even beyond racial and ethnic lines have been all the more pressing and relevant to our multi-cultural, multi-faceted and multi-talented delegates, which is why this year’s theme is:
From Ako to Tayo: Connecting With Our Communities
