18th Annual FACT Conference

by Brian Panganiban

FACT: EVOLUTION OF A LEADER

When: Friday, November 5th (@ 5:00pm) to Sunday, Novermber 7th (@ 8:00pm)

Where: University YMCA & Gregory Hall

The Philippine Student Association at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign presents its 18th Annual Filipino Americans Coming Together (FACT) Conference.

We found our self-identities (FACT 2008: “I Am”) and searched for our purpose (FACT 2009: “Our People’s Power”). Now it is time to use this knowledge to discover the leaders we can become.

Our theme, “Evolution of a Leader” hopes to inspire delegates to do just that. Through three types of workshops based on the past, present, and future, we encourage FACT attendees to learn from the leaders of yesterday in order to become leaders of tomorrow. It is impossible to know who you are or where you’re going without knowing where you came from, so we first want delegates to learn about the people who have shaped Filipino and Filipino-American history into what it is today. Then they will have the opportunity to further explore their identities and passions in order to be aware of who they are in the present. Finally, delegates will be given the tools to become leaders of the future, whether it is within their own organizations or in their professional careers. We believe that every delegate has the potential to be a leader, and we would like to help them reach their full potential.

FACT will take place over the course of one weekend which consists of highly interactive workshops, a crowd pleasing variety show and an afterset at Urbana’s Canopy Club. So please join us for a fun weekend and be prepared to leave your comfort zone as you experience new possibilities with your fellow peers.
